PET GRIEF SUPPORT SERVICE
Whether you're anticipating or coping with the loss of a beloved companion animal, the Pet Grief Support Service recognizes your pain and offers you understanding, compassion and support. The Service provides a telephone Helpline, support group meetings; information, pet loss literature and reading lists on pet loss; and referrals to appropriate resources. The Pet Grief Support Service is offered by the Companion Animal Association of Arizona, Inc., and is operated entirely by trained volunteers who themselves have suffered the loss of a pet. Volunteers receive ongoing training, consultation and assistance in grief support from a certified grief counselor who specializes in pet loss and bereavement, and by a veterinarian affiliated with the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association. |

PET GRIEF SUPPORT SERVICE HELPLINE
Calls to the Pet Grief Support Service Helpline are received on an answering machine. Your message will be picked up by one of our volunteers, who will return your call as soon as possible. These Helpline volunteers are caring, understanding listeners who have loved and lost their own dear friends, and want only to help you cope with losing yours. (Although there is no charge for this service, please be aware that long distance calls will be returned collect.) |

PET GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS
For those wanting to share their feelings in a group setting, the Service offers, at no cost, regularly scheduled support group meetings led by trained volunteers, a professional bereavement counselor and a veterinarian. These dedicated individuals understand and respect the special bond that people have with their animal companions. They know from their own experience how painful it can be when that bond is broken. |
